Fire extinguishers in your business or organisation should be regularly serviced to ensure they remain in good working order and function correctly should they be needed.
Water, Foam and Powder Extinguishers have to be discharged and refilled every five years. CO2 extinguishers must be refurbished after ten years.
Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states
The responsible person must ensure that the premises and any facilities, equipment and devices provided in respect of the premises… are subject to a suitable system of maintenance and are maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.
